Giles County School Nutrition operates 8 kitchens within Giles county and offers breakfast and lunch on a daily basis. Each kitchen is staffed with a cafeteria manager and several staff members. Food is prepared onsite at each school.
To ensure school kitchens keep the highest cleanliness standards, Giles county Health Department conducts two inspections per year at each school. In addition, numerous health and safety inspections are conducted by Food Services. All schools within the district follow the Nutrient Standard Menu Planning. The meals must meet the Recommended Daily Allowance established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
